It will directly support CBP's strategic goals to secure the nation's borders from the entry of dangerous people and goods, while enabling the flow of legitimate trade and travel. (Supports DHS Goals 1, 2, and 5). AFI will provide technology and tools that produce timely and actionable intelligence for CBP personnel protecting our borders, enhanced collaboration across CBP intelligence analysts in a shared workspace, and more effectively share threat information and intelligence to its Federal partners charged with securing our nation. AFI will shorten the time and expense in disseminating Intel products to Intel analysts in the field because reports will be posted in a main repository and distributed to pre-identified communities. AFI will serve as the one-stop shop for CBP-produced intelligence products with access planned to be available to intelligence organizations in other DHS components. AFI will leverage existing legacy systems and build an enhanced query, analysis, production, collaboration, and dissemination tool. Specific stakeholders include intelligence analysts working for CBP from the Office of Field Operations (OFO), Office of Border Patrol (OBP), Office of Air & Marine (OAM), Office of International Trade (OT), and the Office of Intelligence and Investigative Liaison (OIIL). Additional stakeholders from DHS include the DHS Office of Intelligence and Analysis (I&A), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), U.S. Coast Guard (USCG), and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). The AFI System will be accessible to law enforcement representatives from the Department of Justice including the Drug Enforcement Administration. AFI will also share information with the Intelligence Community and potentially law enforcement partners at the State, local, and tribal levels. More..

AFI is a fully funded program on schedule and operating within budget. AFI is being developed using the Agile methodology for systems development with releases scheduled every 90 . This has increased development efficiency, allowed for the early identification of risks and execution of mitigation strategies. This approach has helped AFI evolve into a scalable solution in which experience gained through initial deployments has reduced the risk for future incremental deployments. The CIO assesses the CBP AFI program as a Low Risk investment. More..
