Investment Description

The Geospatial Platform is a Web-based capability that provides shared, trusted geospatial data, applications, and services. It is coordinated across Federal state and local governments to create efficiencies and promote informed decision-making. The Geospatial Platform is a strategic national resource that supports the Administration's Open Government, Open Data and Digital Government strategies to enhance transparency, collaboration and participation. The GeoPlatform provides a suite of well-managed, highly available, and trusted geospatial data, services, and applications for use by Federal agencies and their State, local, Tribal, and regional partners to meet their mission needs and the broader needs of the Nation. This investment is managed in Core Science System Mission Area, FGDC, and does leverage geospatial services. In 2020, GeoPlatform.gov, operating under the authority of the Geospatial Data Act of 2018,was initiated.
